The lagoon and the tide
The Koh Hong ring lagoon is tidal. At high water it is a still, enclosed pool walled in by vertical limestone; at low water it largely drains. Timing arrival for mid to high tide is the single decision that determines whether this trip is memorable or merely nice, and it is why the departure time on a Koh Hong charter is not arbitrary.
